Sun, Moon & Stars

First grade started learning all about the Sun, Moon and Stars. We learned the sun is actually the largest star and lights up our sky both day and night. The moon gets it's light from the sun. We spoke about what a constellation is and talked about the North Star and the Big Dipper. Some of the students told me they tried to locate the North Star and Big Dipper in the sky...feel free to help them if they haven't already done so. After our discussion, the students returned to their seats and created their own constellation and name for it with black paper and chalk.
