Plants/Seeds Need Space to Grow

First grade is continuing learning all about the needs of plants and animals. We spoke about plants needing light, air and water to survive and even planted our own plants. We moved on to discussing the importance of plants/seeds having the proper amount of space to grow as well. As an experiment, we divided into two groups. Group A planted Lima Beans and Group B planted Sunflower seeds. Each group had 2 cups. One cup was labeled Crowded and the other was Not Crowded. In the Crowded Cup, each group would plant ten of the seeds or beans they had. In the Not Crowded Cup the groups would only plant two of the seeds or beans they had. After planting, we put the cups in an area they would receive sunlight and water. We will be observing daily their progress.
