Reading FUN!!!

In Reading Workshop we are learning about the Habits of Good Readers. The kids have already learned the following teaching points:

• Careful readers use picture clues to help figure out unknown words
• Careful readers decode tricky words by segmenting (breaking the word up)
• Careful readers go back and fix the tricky parts they have read (reread for smoothness)

After each mini-lesson I partner up the kids and they choose a book, and read together. While they read they practice Habits of Good Readers that they already learned. We scaffold each teaching point in the mini lesson and independent reading.
