First grade has moved on in Science. We are now learning about Solids, Liquids and Gas. We started out the unit by writing a chart on the board and placing cut out pictures of solids, liquids and gas in the correct columns.
We moved on to using our senses to observe and infer about solids, liquids and gas. There were 3 balloons, labeled A-B-C with matching clear cups labeled the same. Each child observed the balloons by feeling them and trying to guess what was inside. We then cut them open one at a time and poured the contents into their matching cup. Balloon A had dice, Balloon B had water and Balloon C had air. We drew our conclusions out on the chart.
